UMPGT’s principal objective is to spearhead environmental-friendly projects in chemical engineering and technology. In doing so, the company assures that it is managed by qualified personnel, with strict compliance to the relevant authorities in legal, quality and standard requirements.
The company’s business activities are focused on recycling waste materials into commercially viable products. As UMP’s commercial arm, UMPGT is committed to generating profit from the business of technology-based recycling – especially with technology gained at the university – and to offer technical consultancy in the areas of waste recycling and environmental conservation.
Historically, the company originated from and was founded on two technology-funded projects, entitled “Recycling of Base Oil from Spent Lubricants” and “Ultrasonic Solvent Extraction of Oil from Spent Absorbents”, under the stewardship of Professor Dato’ Dr Rosli Mohd Yunus.
The Spent Lubricants Recycling Plant at Gebeng Industrial Park was built in collaboration with Urban Environmental Industries Sdn Bhd, while the Ultrasonic Solvent Extraction Plant at Pulau Indah Industrial Park was built with Solution E & E Technology Sdn Bhd. Both plants are designed to process up to 40 tonnes of wastes daily.
The company strives to continuously upgrade its pool of management and engineering professionals, in line with its nation-building objective of optimizing “Waste to Wealth”.
