"UMP Green Technology Project Launched by PM"

Kuantan, 12 march - Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Sri Najib Tun Razak launched Green Technology project of University Malaysia Pahang (UMP) called development of recycling based oil from waste lubricant oil using extraction process.

According to Professor Dato' Dr Daing Nasir, this product will give the best solution to the environmental pollution problems because in the past, the only solution for waste lubricant oil is it will be processed into fuel oil that contains pollutant. The plant set up at Gebeng Industrial Area can occupy 40 tonnes/day of production  that will helps many parties such as fisherman, workshops, service center, shipping industries, and factories that store waste oil to keep the environment safe by not simply dispose the waste easily to open water.
Besides that, the effect of this Green Technology is it can reduce dependencies on petroleum resources by generating new resource of base oil using recycling process.

In that ceremony, Datuk Seri NajibTun Razak witnessed the changing of documents between UMPGT and Urban Environmental Industries Sdn Bhd as main collaborator. After the ceremony, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak visited several booth that exhibit UMP research and technology done by the researchers among UMP staff and students. The ceremony has been successful to open the eyes of industries to put their faith on the capabilities of local universities.

  1. Well this is good to idea to minimize the needs of petroleum. Recycling used lubricants can be a huge help to save money and protecting environment instead of throwing it away.
